“BONSAI LAKESIDE 2016”
TO BE HELD 23RD – 24TH JULY 2016
AT THE ROWING CLUB HOUSE ON LAKE WEEROONA IN BENDIGO.
WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE A BONSAI FESTIVAL THAT ENTHUSIASTS HAVE NOT SEEN BEFORE IN VICTORIA. A GALA EVENT WITH THE EMPHASIS ON TREES, FUN, FRIENDSHIP AND AN INFORMAL ATMOSPHERE THAT ALLOWS PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE IN A VARIETY OF BONSAI ACTIVITIES.
FEATURING; TONY BEBB, STEVE JARROLD, DON DE LUCA, JOE MORGAN-PAYLER as your 4 demonstrators.
A FREE SHUTTLE BUS IS AVAILABLE BOTH DAYS FOR PARTICIPANTS AND/OR THEIR PARTNERS TO BE TAKEN TO PLACES OF INTEREST AND PICKED UP AGAIN. SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR BREAKOUT ACTIVITIES ARE:-
– shopping.
– antique and collectibles fair at the Bendigo Showgrounds.
– Australian native plant nurseries.
– Bendigo pottery – which has many collectibles.
– Chinese museum.
– Sunday morning market at the showgrounds.
FRIDAY 22 JULY;
Friday evening for early arrivals will be a BBQ & drinks at David Allen’s residence, around the fire bucket in the new glasshouse, BYO drinks. Food supplied.
Starting time 5.00 PM.
SATURDAY 23 and SUNDAY 24 JULY;
– Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea is supplied to all registered participants.
– Catering will be done by bonsai club members and other BFA volunteers
– Morning and afternoon workshops both days, 8 participants per w/shop @ $30 each.
– There will be 2 tutors per workshop, refer to the registration form to choose your session.
– A public outdoor exhibition of Bonsai ( 15 – 20 trees ) will add to the atmosphere and festivities.
– A multi choice raffle.
SATURDAY – JULY 23
WORKSHOPS WILL BE ALLOCATED ON A FIRST BOOKED, FIRST PLACEMENT BASIS.
9.30 am – 12.30 pm. Workshops – 8 participants

OUTDOOR AREAS ARE SET ASIDE WITH TABLES, FOR PARTICIPANTS TO BRING ALONG THEIR TREES AND WORK ON THEM IN A SHARED ENVIRONMENT. A TUTOR WILL BE CONTINUALLY CIRCLING THE GROUNDS TO CRITIQUE AND ADVISE YOU WITH YOUR TREES. THIS IS FREE. ENJOY THE COMFORT AND FREEDOM OF BEING ABLE TO MOVE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL AT YOUR LEISURE. QUALITY TRADE STALLS WILL BE ONSITE FOR THOSE WISHING TO PURCHASE TREES AND SUPPLIES.
SATURDAY MORNING ONLY:- 9.00 AM till 12.00 midday.
*** CAR BOOT SALE in the car park for those private sellers who wish to sell bonsai related items.
Please register your interest, a $10 donation will be appreciated to cover council permit costs.
No pegs or stakes are to be used for anchoring marquees, sandbags are allowed. No cars to be parked on the grass.
SATURDAY EVENING DEMONSTRATIONS: 6.00 pm on-wards at the Lakeview Motor Inn, directly across the road from the lake – cost inclusive with your registration. Partners and guests will be able to attend with you at $25 per person.
An informal evening where participants can circulate, enjoy a drink and each other’s company, whilst viewing 4 demonstrators work on 2 trees. Canapés will be served throughout the evening.(purchase your own drinks at the bar ).
Some auctions will be conducted throughout the evening. Both demonstration trees will be auctioned off at the end of the demo. The free shuttle bus will be available for those needing transport afterwards.
The focus is fun, friendships, bonsai, food, wine, people moving around talking and more fun.
This theme worked very well at the NBPCA bonsai weekend in Canberra in March.
A “BONSAI LAKESIDE 2016” GALA FESTIVAL, designed for a fun, informal and relaxing weekend of Bonsai activities to suit all enthusiasts.
This weekend will cater for enthusiasts at all levels, come and enjoy a combination of activities not seen before in Victoria. Novices to experienced people will all be catered for with the wonderful combination of tutors that we have made available.
PARTICIPANTS WILL NEED TO BOOK THEIR OWN ACCOMMODATION.
